Everyone is invited to join us for a trail hike up to Johnson Farm and a picnic at the Peaks of Otter! We’ll be meeting at the Peaks of Otter Visitor Center (85919 Blue Ridge Parkway, Bedford) at 9:45am and we’ll begin the hike at 10:00am. The trail is 1 mile to Johnson Farm, where we’ll explore for 30 minutes and then head back for a picnic lunch together. Please pack your own lunch. Afterward families can head home, go to the lodge for a leisurely walk around the lake, or hike Sharp Top. We hope you’ll make plans to join us!

The Blue Ridge Women’s Center’s annual fundraising banquet is Thursday evening, October 8, at 6:30pm at Hotel Roanoke. This year’s theme is “Stand Firm,” based on 1 Corinthians 15:58. The keynote speaker will be Steventhen Holland who will bring us a message of rescue and redemption. It promises to be a night to remember! It’s tailgating season and Charlie Nave is inviting all the Providence men to his house to enjoy some jambalaya, cornhole, and fellowship by the fire. This isn’t your typical tailgate party though! There won’t be a game. Instead we will be warming up to compete for the best tale told.

Bring your best story—true or not—five minutes or under, and we will have a storytelling competition. There will be prizes, but no wagering. We are Presbyterian.

Providence is part of the Blue Ridge Presbytery, which consists of 21 PCA churches located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.

The Blue Ridge Presbytery has four stated (regularly scheduled) meetings each year. Each meeting is hosted by a local church and begins with a worship service. Ruling elders and teaching elders discuss and vote on important issues within the church and our denomination, and laypeople are also invited to attend.

Please be in prayer for our church leaders and and our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America.

We will be meeting at Joe and Becky McConnell’s house (5243 Cherokee Hills Dr. Salem) at 5:00pm, carol from 5:15-6:00pm, and return to the McConnell’s for chili and a fire pit in their backyard. We’re looking forward to a great time of fellowship together!
